35 St Nicholas Street occupies the site of the original Town Hall. In 1870 it ceased to be the Town Hall, which was then re-located on Castle Road. This site was re-built to designs by William Baldwin Stewart.
The ground floor was converted into a bank from 1920 It is designed in the Italianate Palazzo Style, characteristic features are the panelled frieze with scrollwork, projecting moulded cornice and balustraded parapet.
